Pros:
treats many symptoms of bipolar illness
Cons:
makes one sleepy and restless, very very expensive
This drug is great for bipolar with psychotic features. I had to start taking it at night due to excessive sleepiness. This drug is very very expensive, and my insurance is no longer covering the cost.

Pros:
Anxiety gone in 3 days!
Cons:
Severe sedation at first, weight gain
I started taking Symbyax 3mg/25mg for PMDD, Depression, and somewhat Bipolar Disorder. The first night I took it I became EXTREMELY tired and I did feel like a zombie for the entire next day, but the next night I was less tired and the next day I felt great. I did start drinking 1 cup of coffee in the morning to wake up a bit more for the day. I have gained about 5 pounds already, but that's OK for now because I was underweight from taking Prozac by itself before. I noticed that I do get really hungry at night and look for sweets. I have figured out that if the sweets are not in the house than I can't eat them when I get cravings. This medication has almost completely ended my anxiety and I feel much better already. I am extremely sensitive to side effects and I feel that this medication is great for people that have that problem. Just give it a few good days and the sedation lifts a great deal, and there is absolutely no nausea or other bothersome side effects.
